LUDACRIS GIVES PRISON APP FOUNDERS $10,000 TO HELP BLACK WOMEN GET INTO THE TECH INDUSTRY

Ludacris surprised Jay’Aina “Jay Jay” Patton and her father Antoine, the father-daughter combo behind the Photo Patch Foundation, on The Ellen Show recently. They collaborated to create an app that allows children to send photographs and letters to their parents who are incarcerated, with the group assisting over 70,000 families in sending over a million photos to far.

With Antoine serving seven years in prison while Jay Jay was just three years old, the foundation’s mission is particularly poignant. In reality, Antoine learnt to code while incarcerated and passed on his expertise to his daughter once he was released. Jay Jay’s success with the Photo Patch Foundation has inspired her to urge more Black women to pursue careers in technology.

“Right now, I’m on a mission to help 10,000 girls of color get into the world of tech and start their career path,” she said. “Just for me, there’s not much representation of people who look like me in the world of tech and I know other little girls want to get into this world, but they don’t see that they can do it.

“So, I want to be that guide and help them do it and just start them off with their career. We actually have a scholarship fund as well that we’re raising awareness for to help these women and girls start their career and just let them know that they can do.”

Ludacris was brought onto the stage by Ellen Degeneres to applaud the duo’s efforts and award them with a $10,000 cheque.

“I love what you guys are doing, absolutely love what you’re doing,” he said. “I have family members that are incarcerated – all they ever ask for are pictures. You guys are connecting the world. I have my own foundation that helps facilitate dreams for young ladies like yourself.

“I came here personally because I want to donate $10,000 to what you’re doing. This is from my foundation, the Ludacris Foundation, to you guys. Continue striving, continue doing everywhere you’re doing. You are the future, 100 percent.”

Ellen then doubled Ludacris’ gift, bringing the total to $20,000.

WITH $38 MILLION IN THE BANK, 50 CENT REVEALS HOW MUCH RENT HE USED TO PAY

When it comes to money, 50 Cent has always been a genius. Fif’s bank account soared over $38 million early in his career after co-headlining the Roc The Mic Tour with JAY-Z in 2003.

Fif was still living simply when he initially broke through, even with all that money in the bank.

“My first run, the Roc The Mic Tour and everything we did, I came back and had $38 million in my account,” the Queens native revealed during a recent interview with Brian J. Roberts while promoting his new BMF series. “And all I had was a two-bedroom apartment that was $800 a month.”

It wasn’t long until 50 Cent stepped up and bought Mike Tyson’s enormous 52-room Connecticut house. While the purchase was motivated by a desire to “enjoy” the rewards of his effort and be free of the financial “restrictions” he’d grown up with, 50 admitted that it was also for tax considerations.

“If you don’t spend it, you know the IRS is gonna take it,” he explained. “I needed the expenses, so I ended up buying Mike Tyson’s home in Farmington and stuff like that. I was adjusting to it.”

In 2003, 50 Cent reportedly paid $4.1 million for Mike Tyson’s estate. The 50,000-square-foot mansion included an astounding 21 bedrooms, 25 bathrooms, an indoor pool, hot tub, green-screen room, indoor court, several gaming rooms, and a recording studio, among other amenities.

Fif sold the house he had called home for almost 15 years, despite the fact that it wasn’t an easy sell. Curtis put the property on the market in 2007 for $18.5 million and attempted for years to find a buyer. He eventually sold it for $2.9 million in 2019 and gave the entire proceeds to his charity, G-Unit Foundation.

These days, 50 Cent makes his money from his burgeoning STARZ TV program empire, and there’s more on the way. 50’s new show Black Mafia Family, which premiered last month, has already been renewed for a second season after just one episode.

“After the first episode breaks all premiere records on the network, sure you’ll get a season 2 yeah, don’t worry be happy,” 50 wrote to Instagram after the news broke.

BOOSIE BADAZZ WAS ARRESTED FOR TWO MISDEMEANORS AND ONE FELONY CHARGE

Boosie Badazz was allegedly arrested and taken into Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday (October 11).

According to The Shade Room, Boosie was arrested for accusations stemming from a scuffle that occurred during a Legendz of the Streetz Tour stop in Atlanta earlier this month. Boosie handed himself in to Fulton County after the club promoter reportedly filed charges against him.

As a result, Boosie was charged with instigating a disturbance and property destruction. He wasn’t granted his bail money right away, but he was eventually freed.

On Friday (October 1), Boosie Badazz was in the middle of a performance when the brawl broke out. A guy departed the DJ booth and challenged another man onstage, according to video obtained by TMZ. Rather than stand by and watch, Boosie began swinging.

Around 12:41 a.m. local time, the Atlanta Police Department was summoned to the venue for vandalism, and police were told that Boosie and his entourage had destroyed production company property. It was also claimed that the arena’s property was damaged.

After the brawl and subsequent shooting at a Baltimore nightclub where the Baton Rouge native had made an appearance, Boosie said he’d been booted from the tour the next day.

On Monday (October 4), the 38-year-old rapper revealed he’d been dropped from the star-studded lineup by posting a photo of a sign on the Royal Farms Arena entrance on Twitter.

“Boosie Badazz has been removed from the Legendz of the Streetz Tour,” the sign read. “If you would like to request a refund to this evening’s concert tour, REFUNDS MUST BE OBTAINED PRIOR TO ENTERING THE VENUE AT POINT OF PURCHASE.”

He added in the caption, “THIS IS THE MOVE THEY PULLING OFF ON THE TOUR SO U CANT GET REFUNDS. READ IT CLEAR LOL LIKE PEOPLE GO READ A SIDE DOOR LOL SHIT OUT TO ALL MY BALTIMORE FANS LOVE YALL.”

NETFLIX’S ‘SQUID GAME’ IS COMPARED TO HOOD POVERTY BY MEEK MILL

Squid Game is on track to become the most popular Netflix series of all time, and Meek Mill appears to have just begun binge-watching the South Korean survival thriller.

On Monday (October 11), the Philadelphia rapper took to Twitter to offer his opinions on the blockbuster program, equating the participants’ fatal chase of the ₩45.6 billion prize money to hood poverty.

“Squid games’pay attention how fast people switch and kill eachother to survive,” Meek Mill wrote. “now think about the ‘hood’ poverty …it’s the exact same thing …if you just help them with work/money they won’t be that way ‘just a common sense message.’”

Minyoung Kim, Netflix’s vice president of content for Asia Pacific, recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the themes addressed in Squid Game and its massive global appeal.

“I think the essence of the show is its commentary on social injustice — class divisions and financial inequality, or even gender-related issues,” he said. “These social injustice issues aren’t only Korean — the whole world is struggling with them. These elements made the show resonate strongly outside of Korea as well.”

He added, “I would say the art — the set design, costumes and all of the colors that make it look like you’re in a fairyland playing a childhood game, except you’re playing for cash and fighting to the death — was another big piece in making the show successful. The contrast of life-threatening moments and fun music. These were all elements that helped non-Korean audiences enjoy the show too. The profound social message is just the foundation of the show.”

Meek Mill grew up in North Philadelphia, near the corner of 18th and Berks. In a December 2019 interview with Charlamagne Tha God, he highlighted the high murder rate in his previous area.

“Where I come from, our murder rate is 365 people a day,” he explained. “There’s 365 Black people getting murdered around here every day. If you’re a rapper, it brings attention to you. It brings more attention to you in those type of [situations]… especially being a famous figure and comin’ back down that low, where you have some people that are lowlives on a solo level—that, if you’re that high up, you can’t even come into contact with ’em, because you’re gonna have to kill ’em, or they’re gonna kill you, or you’re gonna end up goin’ to jail.”

IN AN AWKWARD DANCE VIDEO, KODAK BLACK GROPES HIS MOTHER’S REAR AND TRYS KISSING HER ON THE MOUTH

Over the weekend, Kodak Black was out partying at a Miami birthday party, when he brought his mother, Marcelene Octave, out for a spin on the dance floor — but then things went weird.

In a viral video of Kodak and Octave, the Bill Israel rapper grabs her behind and tries to kiss her on the lips while she laughs and backs away. On Sunday (October 10), comments poured in, ranging from contempt to complete befuddlement.

“Nah Kodak violating his own mommas ass cheeks is WILD!!!!” one person wrote. “What in the Z shit is this y’all Florida n-ggas some sick sickos. #Repent.”

Another wrote, “That video of Kodak black grabbing his mom on the ass and tryna kiss her on the lips is disgusting. She even looked uncomfortable when he was tryna do that.”

https://twitter.com/1more4thegain/status/1447257187441590279?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1447257187441590279%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fhiphopdx.com%2Fnews%2Fid.65111%2Ftitle.kodak-black-gropes-his-mothers-rear-tries-kissing-her-on-the-mouth-in-awkward-dance-video

The video becomes viral after Kodak Black’s latest plea for aid. Yak deleted his social media accounts after sending a series of tweets implying he was on the verge of suicide last week.

He told his supporters on Saturday (October 9) that he was doing better and that he was not suicidal.

“I mean maybe that wasn’t the best thing to tweet and very selfish of me to let a thought like that succumb,” he began. “I apologize to me for doubting myself like I ain’t a raw ass gangsta ass n-gga but thugs need love too you know and it’s totally unfair to the people that DO love me, that DO care & wanna see me happy and successful, however that looks like!”

He added, “I understand I made a bold statement, but don’t worry I’m not suicidal and have no plans on harming myself. I been in maximum prisons people committing suicide and die from the hands of their cell mates right next to me, I been beaten by authorities 1,000 miles away from home no point of contact to family, never contemplated taking myself out.

“I got a great support system & surrounded by love, somebody put a false rumor in my head that drove me to the edge that I can’t say but all in all I’m ok! I’m really in need of a vacation but being on probation keep me stuck in this unhealthy environment where my only choice is running round the hood thuggin.”

For failing a drug test, Kodak Black recently joined a 90-day recovery program.

LIL UZI VERT APPEARS AT A CAMBODIAN WEDDING AND GIFT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO THE HAPPY COUPLE

Lil Uzi Vert does exactly what he wants, including interrupting weddings.

Baby Pluto made news in August when he appeared at a Palestinian couple’s wedding ceremony in New Jersey, where he was photographed dancing joyfully with guests while wearing a traditional black keffiyeh around his neck.

Lil Uzi Vert made an appearance at a Cambodian couple’s wedding ceremony in his hometown of Philadelphia on Saturday, indicating that attending overseas weddings is becoming somewhat of a pastime for him (October 9).

The Eternal Atake rapper was spotted having a good time on the dance floor, busting a few steps to Cambodian music before removing a wad of cash from his pocket and lavishing thousands of dollars on the happy couple.

Uzi was also caught on camera spitting a brief freestyle and hugging the newlyweds as he extended his compliments to the guests.

Lil Uzi Vert, on the other hand, was invited to the wedding this time, as the bride made plain on Instagram. However, it’s unclear how he knows the pair.

“Cheney&Rachatna wedding Oct9th,2021 wakanda4eva love y’all #family4eva,” she captioned a slideshow of wedding photos while clarifying, “Vert was invited, he didn’t crash the wedding.”

Meanwhile, Lil Uzi Vert’s relationship with City Girls actress JT looks to be back on track after the duo fueled split rumors in August. Uzi and JT reportedly unfollowed one other on Instagram, and Baby Pluto’s IG page was nearly wiped clean.

On the music front, Lil Uzi Vert is gearing up to release his much-anticipated new album, The Pink Tape, Which is “going through its mixing process.”

Uzi said that this new project will be “experimental with the music and traditional on the mixing.” in contrast to last year’s Eternal Atake, which took an experimental approach to its mix.

Uzi has been warming up fans with collaborations with Meek Mill (“Blue Notes 2”), Belly (“Two Tone”), and YN Jay (“Coochie Scout Pt. 2”) while putting the finishing touches on The Pink Tape.

R. KELLY GETS 500 PERCENT SALES BUMP WEEKS AFTER SEX CRIMES CONVICTION

R&B singer R. is a convicted felon. Since the publication of the documentary Surviving R. Kelly in 2019 and his following trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges, Kelly has fallen rapidly from prominence. However, after his conviction on September 27, the 54-year-sales old’s and streaming have skyrocketed.

Kelly’s record sales have increased 517 percent since last month, according to Rolling Stone, a questionable claim given that many of the singer’s songs are about his victims.

The rise in album sales corresponds to the rise in streaming statistics. Kelly’s library experienced a 22 percent increase in “on-demand streaming” and a 23 percent increase in “video streams” from September 27 to October 3 compared to the previous seven days.

The rise in album sales corresponds to the rise in streaming statistics. Kelly’s catalog experienced an increase in sales from September 27 to October 3, the day of the guilty verdict. “on-demand streams by 22 percent and his“video streams were up 23 percent compared to the previous seven days.”

The repertoire of the disgraced artist is still available on Apple Songs, Spotify, and Tidal, where listeners listened his music more in 2021 than in 2017. Kelly was averaging approximately 5.4 million on-demand audio streams per week in 2017, and he’s averaging around 6.4 million this year, according to RS.

Kelly’s surge in streaming is reminiscent of the reaction in 2018 when Spotify banned him from its owned and controlled playlists for breaking its Hate Content and Hateful Conduct policies.

Despite an increase in streaming and vocal backing from celebrities such as Bill Cosby and Akon, Google has taken a stand against Kelly. Kelly’s two video accounts with a total 5 million subscribers were taken down by YouTube on October 6.

On May 4, 2022, the singer will be sentenced in court. He might be sentenced to ten years to life in jail. He also has two additional sex-related cases pending, one in Minnesota and the other in his birthplace of Chicago.

SAWEETIE IS FORCED TO DEFEND HERSELF ON TWITTER AFTER SHE IS DRAGGED FOR SOMETHING TOO $HORT SAID.

After an old video of the “ICY GRL” rapper chatting to Too $hort emerged on Friday night (October 8), Saweetie became a trending topic on Twitter. Short Dawg admitted during the chat that he’d never dated a totally Black woman and that, as a result of growing up in the Bay Area, he was more drawn to mixed women.

Saweetie is seen chuckling as he speaks, and then the video stops. Accusations of colorism began to flood her mentions, forcing her to defend herself. “Black ladies are gorgeous,” the 28-year-old Santa Clara native says in the whole video. Period.”

She added in the caption, “Since @idkthreat blocked me make sure y’all post the whole clip. Black women are beautiful period!”

Saweetie has addressed the issue before when she was once asked, “Do you think darkskin women can be pretty,” to which she said, “I was raised by dark skin women so I find this question insulting. Wts I don’t think they can be pretty. I think that they are pretty.” The fan, who posted the original remarks, wrote, “They want Saweetie to fit their narrative so bad.”

Saweetie re-tweeted the post and responded in the caption, “This shouldn’t even be a conversation but thank you for having my back baby. I’m going back to my shoot. Y’all have a Jesus blessed day.”

Since their February 2017 hookup, Cardi B and Offset have become one of Hip Hop’s “it” couples, but even they aren’t immune to social media pranks.

Cardi and Offset, who welcomed their second child together last month, walked the red carpet at Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2022 presentation during Paris Fashion Week on Saturday (October 2), dressed head-to-toe in the premium brand.

As soon as Cardi B and Offset’s red carpet images started making the rounds on social media, jokes started flying, with many fans comparing their outfits to the arcade fighting game franchise Mortal Kombat.

“Look like they’re bout to be in a hood Mortal Kombat,” one follower wrote on Elliott Wilson’s Instagram post, while another joked, “Take me to the KANG.” The roasting also spilled over to Twitter where jokes about Samurai Jack, umbrellas and frying pans rang off.

Despite the boos, Cardi B and Offset continued to show their star power at Paris Fashion Week, attending events and parties around the French city. Offset was also chosen to walk the runway for Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2022 show, making Cardi a very pleased wife.

“So proud of my husband @offsetyrn who walked the show!” she wrote on Instagram while sharing photos from the event.

Cardi and Offset were also seen at Kid Cudi’s Entergalactic party in Paris on Sunday night, slamming down shots with fellow Hip Hop fashionista Kid Cudi (October 3). Last month, at New York Fashion Week, Cudi staged the inaugural edition of his new “nightlife experience,” where he partied with Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, Kehlani, and others.
