Federal prosecutors are claiming that R. Kelly is a “sadistic serial sexual predator” and are pushing for the disgraced singer to serve the rest of his life in prison.

The U.S. prosecutors in charge of Kelly’s 2022 conviction in Chicago on child pornography and enticement counts have presented a requested sentence of 25 years for the offenses, which they acknowledge is longer than what is advised by sentencing guidelines.

R. Kelly is now serving a 30-year sentence after being found guilty of comparable crimes in New York in 2021, and the government has further said that they would seek for his term in the Chicago case to start only after he has finished serving that sentence.

Kelly was referred to as “a serial sexual predator” who hasn’t expressed regret for his “sadistic” actions in the sentence proposal, which was submitted to the U.S. District Court on Thursday (February 16). According to the prosecution, Kelly “poses a serious danger to society.”

“The only way to ensure Kelly does not reoffend is to impose a sentence that will keep him in prison for the rest of his life,” prosecutors added.

Jennifer Bonjean, R. Kelly’s attorney, has responded by asking for her client to get a 10-year term to run concurrently with his New York sentence. She said that the 56-year-old crooner is already unlikely to survive his term because the average life expectancy for prisoners is 64.

The U.S. Attorney’s office’s stern proposal, according to Bonjean, was driven by race, he said, citing the large number of white rock musicians who haven’t even been tried despite having the same accusations made against them.

Prosecutors insisted that adding an extra 25 years to Kelly’s already lengthy existing sentence is a legitimate request in view of “the egregiousness of Kelly’s conduct” and his “intentional and prolific” exploitation of youngsters.

Three months after receiving his New York sentence, the “I Wish” singer was found guilty in his Chicago trial in September 2022 on six of the 13 charges he was up against. The state had also charged him with conspiring with his former business manager to rig his 2008 child pornography trial, but he had been exonerated on those allegations as well.

On February 23, a judge in Chicago will sentence R. Kelly.

Judge Harry D. Leinenweber on Thursday rejected the applications that his attorneys had previously submitted in an effort to have the conviction overturned or a new trial ordered.

According to reports, R. Kelly was hurt while incarcerated and is now attempting to use the ailment as an excuse to avoid going to New York for an impending court over his victims’ restitution.

On Thursday, September 15, Kelly’s legal team requested the judge whether the disgraced R&B singer may participate electronically in the upcoming hearing, which was set for September 28. Kelly’s leg was hurt, making it impossible for him to move about, according to records that AllHipHop acquired.

“Undersigned counsel writes to respectfully request that Defendant Kelly be permitted to appear via zoom for the September 28th, 2022, restitution hearing,” attorney Ashley Cohen wrote. “Mr. Kelly is currently housed at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Kelly has sustained an injury to his leg that makes traveling challenging and uncomfortable.”

Cohen added: “Furthermore, a significant amount of resources would have to be utilized to have Mr. Kelly flown in from Chicago to the Eastern District of New York for this hearing. For the foregoing reasons, Defendant respectfully requests that he be permitted to appear via zoom for the hearing. The government has no objection to this request.”

Unknown how Kelly hurt his leg, it happened the day after a federal jury in his hometown of Chicago found him guilty of child pornography-related counts. The “Ignition” singer is still facing criminal charges in Minnesota, which have been suspended while his federal trials, despite having previously received a 30-year prison term in New York. In Chicago, a 10 year minimum sentence is required for child pornography offenses.

R. Kelly’s court hearing in New York also comes after a New York judge ordered that $28,000 in inmate commissary earnings be taken out of the account and applied to his $140,000 in court penalties and victim restitution payments. He now

“After seizing his funds and after sending this email, @EDNYnews decided to file a motion to confiscate his trust account money. You’re supposed to do that BEFORE you take the money.” Kelly’s attorney Jennifer Bonjean tweeted about the “unethical” action.

While Kelly is “down bad,” Freddie Gibbs stated in a recent interview with Funk Flex that he intends to add some more cash to the singer’s jail account.

On Wednesday, R. Kelly was informed of his destiny in a Brooklyn courtroom (June 29). According to the Associated Press, the disgraced R&B artist, 55, may potentially spend the rest of his life in jail after receiving a 30 year sentence from U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly.

During her trial in September 2021, Kells was found guilty on nine counts related to different racketeering and sex trafficking allegations.

“You made me do things that broke my spirit,” one alleged victim said in court. “I literally wished I would die because of how low you made me feel. Do you remember that?”

Eleven accusers, including several who were adolescents when they first had sex with the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer, (nine women and two men) testified that Kelly had abused them.

“He committed these crimes using his fame and stardom as both a shield, which prevented close scrutiny or condemnation of his actions,” federal prosecutors added. “And a sword, which gave him access to wealth and a network of enablers to facilitate his crimes, and an adoring fan base from which to cull his victims.”

Before Donnelly gave Kelly a 30-year jail term, federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York allegedly sought the judge to impose a 25-year prison term on the troubled singer. R. Kelly’s attorneys claimed that because to the trauma and abuse he experienced during his difficult upbringing, he should only be sentenced to ten years.

The situation was considered a turning moment in the #MeToo movement. Following the debut of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly documentary series in early 2019, Kelly’s criticism gained momentum. R. Kelly was charged with child pornography in Illinois in 2008 but was ultimately found not guilty.

“The defendant’s victims aren’t groupies or gold diggers. They’re human beings,” U.S. attorney Nadia Shihata said. “Daughters, sisters, some are now mothers. And their lives matter.”

R&B singer R. is a convicted felon. Since the publication of the documentary Surviving R. Kelly in 2019 and his following trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges, Kelly has fallen rapidly from prominence. However, after his conviction on September 27, the 54-year-sales old’s and streaming have skyrocketed.

Kelly’s record sales have increased 517 percent since last month, according to Rolling Stone, a questionable claim given that many of the singer’s songs are about his victims.

The rise in album sales corresponds to the rise in streaming statistics. Kelly’s library experienced a 22 percent increase in “on-demand streaming” and a 23 percent increase in “video streams” from September 27 to October 3 compared to the previous seven days.

The rise in album sales corresponds to the rise in streaming statistics. Kelly’s catalog experienced an increase in sales from September 27 to October 3, the day of the guilty verdict. “on-demand streams by 22 percent and his“video streams were up 23 percent compared to the previous seven days.”

The repertoire of the disgraced artist is still available on Apple Songs, Spotify, and Tidal, where listeners listened his music more in 2021 than in 2017. Kelly was averaging approximately 5.4 million on-demand audio streams per week in 2017, and he’s averaging around 6.4 million this year, according to RS.

Kelly’s surge in streaming is reminiscent of the reaction in 2018 when Spotify banned him from its owned and controlled playlists for breaking its Hate Content and Hateful Conduct policies.

Despite an increase in streaming and vocal backing from celebrities such as Bill Cosby and Akon, Google has taken a stand against Kelly. Kelly’s two video accounts with a total 5 million subscribers were taken down by YouTube on October 6.

On May 4, 2022, the singer will be sentenced in court. He might be sentenced to ten years to life in jail. He also has two additional sex-related cases pending, one in Minnesota and the other in his birthplace of Chicago.
