BOBBY SHMURDA EXPLAINS HIS ‘MIXED EMOTIONS’ ABOUT HIS FREEDOM

Over the weekend, Bobby Shmurda made a triumphant comeback to the festival stage with an electrifying performance at Rolling Loud Miami. He followed it up with a special appearance on Showtime’s Desus & Mero on Sunday (July 25).

After serving nearly six years in prison on conspiracy charges while his rap career was only getting started in 2014, the “Hot N-gga” rapper had an unexpected reaction to regaining his freedom.

“Honestly, it’s mixed emotions,” he said. “Some days is work, and some days it’s like, ‘Yo, I’m home.’ You know when you can’t believe you’re home? I done came home before but this time it was like, I’m home. You know. what I’m saying? I’m home.

“When you come home, you gotta see everything and what’s what. What’s this? What’s that? That’s what’s really been going on. I’m trying to see what’s this and what’s that before you move cause being in jail just made me smarter. I used to move off a lot of impulse.”

Shmurda is preparing to return to Hip Hop following his release from prison. He hinted at more music from himself and the Migos on the coming.

“We got all types of different music coming out,” he continued. “We got the Shmurda shit coming out. We got the Shmigos shit coming out. It’s going to be a lit summer.”

During his five-song Rolling Loud concert on Friday night, Bobby Shmurda revealed a couple of new songs (July 23).

Since the KIRK rapper joined up with Tory Lanez for the “SKAT” video last month, Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby haven’t been on speaking terms. They both unfollowed one other on social media after a public dispute on Twitter, thus ending their formerly cordial friendship.

DaBaby chose to bring out Lanez during his set at Rolling Loud Miami on Sunday (July 25), just after Megan performed, in what looked to be an attempt to rub salt in Megan’s figurative wounds. Lanez’s identity was first covered by a massive outfit, so it wasn’t immediately evident.

“I’ll give somebody out here a million dollars if they can guess who in here,” DaBaby said. Lanez was then assisted out of the outfit, which drew mixed comments from the audience.

Tory Lanez is accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020, after a wild night out with Kylie Jenner ended in the Toronto native’s arrest.

Lanez pled not guilty to two felony counts in November — assault with a semiautomatic pistol and driving with a loaded, unregistered firearm — and maintains his innocence.

However, there are many others who support Megan, as seen by someone in the audience throwing a shoe at DaBaby’s head midway through his performance.

Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby have worked together before on tracks including “Cash Shit,” “Nasty,” and “Cry Baby.” Following the release of the “SKAT” video, DaBaby seemed to repost a tweet mocking the Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion shooting incident.

The post read, “I guess @DaBabyDaBaby and @torylanez cool now bc the both shot somebody and don’t have to do no jail time.”

DaBaby quickly blamed it on a glitch in the matrix with, “Idk what type of Illuminati shit Twitter got goin on…I ain’t retweeted nothing but ‘Ball If I Want To’ promo. I ain’t retweet that silly shit. Then once ppl start tagging me and I saw it and tried to delete it and undo the retweet Twitter didn’t let me. Type shit yall on?”

Megan replied, “Support me in private and publicly do something different…these industry men are very strange. This situation ain’t no damn ‘beef’ and I really wish people would stop down playing it like it’s some internet shit for likes and retweets.”

It doesn’t appear like a reconciliation is in the cards, based on DaBaby’s newest action.

Apple Music offered fans an opportunity to hear the album in its entirety on Thursday night (July 22) during a sold-out listening event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, ahead of its long-awaited release.

Ye hasn’t left, according to TMZ, and has instead set up business at the enormous arena. He’s not only built a studio, but he’s also built some living quarters and hired a private chef to cook his meals.

DRAKE BLESSES TORONTO RAPPER SMILEY WITH A VERSE AFTER SIGNING HIM TO OVO SOUND

Smiley, a Toronto rapper, is likely to gain a lot more attention after signing to Drake’s OVO Sound label.

On Friday (July 23), the 24-year-old announced his next chapter by releasing a new track called “Over the Top,” which contains a brand new verse from Drake. Not only that, but on the Tay Keith-produced single, Drizzy also sings the chorus.

“Anyone else would retire, but I’m not content,” Drake raps. “I wanna bury these n-ggas like twenty feet down so no one can find them again/It’s gotta be scary to witness me carry these n-ggas around in both of my hands/They stay inviting me over, they say they got bitches/I get there and then it’s just them.”

Smiley was included on the label’s website’s artist profile for “Over the Top,” which was published by OVO Sound/Warner Records. He joins PARTYNEXTDOOR, dvsn, Majid Jordan, Roy Woods, Popcaan, and Baka Not Nice on the roster.

“Buy or bye, we really live this @thareal smiley,” Drake said on Instagram in response to the song.

Smiley described how his connection with Drake began about seven years ago in a May interview with Complex.

“So like, he heard my songs from when I had my first wave,” he explained. “A long time ago, it was 2014 or something like that. He heard those songs and I guess he paid close attention. And then when I took a break and I came back, I dropped this one song called ‘Hit’ with my other guys on the song. That was the first time I’d ever seen that Drake knew who I was or anything; one of his boys posted my song, and he commented under it and said, ‘Smiley = G.O.A.T.’ And then that’s when I was like, ‘Oh fuck, this guy knows who I am and shit.’ So then, probably a couple of days later, he follow me on Insta.”

He continued, “Probably a couple months later I got sentenced for a gun charge and stuff. And then while I was in jail, he messaged my Instagram account and just gave me a long message saying he fucks with the movement, he likes my music and stuff. And then a couple weeks later while I was still in jail he dropped the Scorpion album. The day after he dropped it, he wrote his inspirations for the album and he put my album Buy. or. Bye on there. And then from there, we just built our relationship.”

Drake used his Instagram Stories in April to upload a video of himsellf in the gym with Smiley, whom he hyped up.

ROLLING LOUD EXPLAINS STAGE MALFUNCTION AHEAD OF KANYE WEST, TRAVIS SCOTT, AND OTHER PERFORMANCES IN MIAMI

In the aftermath of a screen projector falling ahead of the 2021 Rolling Loud Miami weekend, what might have been a terrifying sight is now just that.

After local Florida news sites aired aerial imagery of the blacked-out festival grounds, the official Rolling Loud Festival account did damage control while explaining the damage to one of its stages on Thursday (July 22).

The silver lining, of course, is that no one was hurt.

“In case you see it on the news, a screen fell down at one of our stages,” a tweet from the verified Rolling Loud account read. “Nobody was hurt and it will be fixed before doors open tomorrow. The show goes on!”

The concert will include headliners A$AP Rocky, Post Malone, and Travis Scott, as well as Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby, Playboi Carti, City Girls, NLE Choppa, and more.

In the aftermath of his tenth studio album, DONDA, Kanye West will make a surprise appearance.

Fredo Bang, who was detained by federal officials on Thursday, a day before his scheduled Rolling Loud Miami concert, will not be so fortunate. Investigators suspect the Def Jam rapper was involved in the 2019 Miami shooting of YoungBoy Never Broke Again.

As of press time, there were no details as to what caused the Rolling Loud Miami stage to collapse.

AFTER TWITTER HAS A FIELD DAY, YOUNG M.A EXPLAINS HER PREGNANCY SITUATION.

On Tuesday (July 20), a tape of Young M.A from a 2019 interview with Headkrack After Hours emerged, in which the openly homosexual Brooklyn native discussed being a dad to a baby boy and girl in the future. The speculations spread like wildfire on social media, leading to claims that Young M.A is presently pregnant.

Young M.A took to The Shade Room‘s comment area to clear up any misunderstandings regarding her current pregnancy. She was the No. 2 hot topic on Twitter for a while Tuesday night as the allegations spread like wildfire.

“Of course my girl is the one that’s gone be pregnant that’s why I looked at her and mentioned her smh.. y’all bored lol but I get it.. sell ya stories and we workin on one now,” the 29-year-old wrote.

DON’T EXPECT DRAKE TO RAIN ‘CLB’ ON THE RELEASE DATE PARADE FOR KANYE WEST’S ‘DONDA’

Drake and Kanye West have a long and illustrious relationship. Early in Drake’s career, they became buddies, collaborating on many occasions and calling each other out at interviews and performances. After Kanye’s notorious remarks at The Saint Pablo Tour created a hitch in their relationship in 2017, things began to go ugly.

When Kanye was drawn into Drake’s famed fight with Pusha T a year later, their problems were even worse. Pusha T claimed Drake was concealing a child in his diss track “The Story of Adidon,” and Kanye was said to have given the information to his “Runaway” partner.

During a RapRadar interview in 2019, Drake stated that there will be no reconciliation between him and Kanye in the near future. With both rappers set to release albums in 2021, all eyes will be on them to see if anything sparks between them.

However, those hoping for some drama may be disappointed. Drizzy and Yeezy, according to Karen Civil, a former music writer and manager, are doing better these days. Civil disclosed the supposed reunion in a Twitter post mocking Drake for potentially sabotaging Kanye’s DONDA release plans on Friday (July 23).

Low Key, an Apple Music host, joined in, stating he’ll wager money that Drake’s album will be released on Friday. Civil became aware of the commotion and immediately resolved the situation.

On Lil Baby’s “Wants and Needs,” Drake suggested that he visit Kanye for some prayer time with Jesus, signaling the start of a possible reconciliation. Aside than that, fans haven’t heard anything new about Drake and Kanye’s love/hate relationship.

While Drake continues to claim that Certified Lover Boy will be out before the end of the summer, Kanye has already delivered. During a Beats By Dre ad starring American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson, Ye offered fans a sneak peek at the first official track from DONDA, titled “No Child Left Behind.”

SHEFF G WAS ARRESTED IN NEW YORK CITY FOR A 2ND DEGREE FELONY

Sheff G, a member of the Brooklyn Drill, was reportedly detained on Saturday (July 17). According to a tweet from Akademiks, the 22-year-old Flatbush resident was arrested for second-degree felony firearms possession. His next court appearance is on August 18, and no bail has been set.

“NY Drill Artist Sheff G arrested for Gun Possession in NYC,” Akademiks wrote late Saturday night. “He’s remanded and will have to wait for a bond hearing to find out when he’ll be able to bail out. Next court hearing is August 18th.”

Over the last few years, Sheff G has had a number of run-ins with the authorities. After police reportedly discovered him driving with a.45 caliber pistol during a routine traffic stop in January, the RCA Records musician was arrested on accusations of unlawful weapons possession.

Sheff G was detained on the scene and charged with three counts of criminal possession of a firearm and two driving infractions, but his team seemed sure that he would be acquitted.

“We will vigorously defend these charges,” his attorney Mitchell Elman told the NY Post. “I have no further comment at this time.”

The New York Police Department (NYPD) barred Sheff and five other musicians, including the late Pop Smoke, from Rolling Loud’s New York performance in November 2019 due to “public safety concerns.”

“It was sad that they took the opportunity away from us so we could show the world that we bigger than just being in the hood and whatever they think we doing,” Sheff said. “That’s something that’s going to better our life. So why would you want to stop us from doing that? You want to keep us where we was at before, so it is what it is, but it’s also spiteful shit.”

AFTER BEING CLOWNED FOR PAINTING HIS FINGERNAILS, KID CUDI TURNS OFF INSTAGRAM COMMENTS: ‘FUCK WAY OFF’

Kid Cudi has a history of defying expectations, from wearing a dress on Saturday Night Live to being brutally honest about his mental health issues. So it came as no surprise to his true admirers when he opted to flaunt his painted nails on social media over the weekend.

However, it appears that there were so many other individuals who objected to Kid Cudi’s multi-colored manicure that he chose to turn off the comments on his Instagram account.

“Turned my comments off on Instagram,” he tweeted on Saturday (July 17). “Seems people really have a problem w me painting my nails. I got tired of blockin so many accounts. Kid Cudi felt compelled to defend himself once more earlier this month after noticing people mocking him online. On July 3, he took to Twitter to remind his supporters how unique he is.

“I’m inspired by myself,” he said in a series of tweets. “I look up to me. I’m my own hero. MOTM3 was inspired by my life. As all my other albums. The sound of the album is my own fusion of everything Ive done thus far and some new ideas. I sound like no one else. When u hear a Cudi record, u know.”

Despite the fact that he never said what sparked the tirade, he subsequently informed a fan, “I gotta let em know sometimes I be seein people talkin crazy.”

The Man On The Moon creator also retaliated against supporters of troubled comic Bill Cosby’s recent and surprise jail release.

The 83-year-old was released on June 30 after Pennsylvania’s highest court found that an agreement with a previous prosecutor prevented him from being charged in the case. He was convicted in 2018 of drugging and sexually assaulting former Temple University employee Andrea Constand over 17 years ago.

While Boosie Badazz and Timbaland hailed Cosby’s newfound freedom and Timbaland made a badly received Instagram joke, Kid Cudi appeared to be appalled by people who were pleased with the news. Cudi tweeted shortly after the news came, “People that are celebrating Bill Cosby being released are fuckin idiots.”

DRAKE REMINISES FANS WHO STARTED VERZUZ WITH DRAKE VS. LIL WAYNE TOUR MEMORABILIA

Drake and Lil Wayne went at it on their joint summer tour in 2014, long before Swizz Beatz and Timbaland teamed up to develop the Verzuz platform, which pits rappers, vocalists, groups, and producers against each other in a 20-song battle.

Drake took a break from putting the finishing touches on Certified Lover Boy on Thursday (July 15) to treat fans with a little of nostalgia through his Instagram Story. Fans can glimpse a pair of the incredibly rare Air Jordan 3 PE “Drake vs. Lil Wayne” colorway in the photo he uploaded. The top is made entirely of white leather, with touches of orange and yellow on the sock liner and laces.

The shoe was created to help promote the Drake vs. Lil Wayne Tour and was never made available to the general public, making them extremely difficult to come by. The sneaker also comes in a black hue, which is equally as unusual as the white version.

Drake vs. Lil Wayne was the first tour of its type. Weezy and the 6 God competed in a song battle based on the popular fighting game Street Fighter to see who was the “best rapper in the world.” In an app built particularly for the tour, fans who attended the show were able to participate and vote on who would win.

Although Drake won the ultimate fight 14-10, the tour was one of the most successful joint tours in history, and both artists were victorious. Drake and Wayne have discussed having a second collaborative tour, according to Cortez Bryant, but nothing has come to light yet.
