Los Angeles based rapper HoodTrophy Bino (“Bino”) signed to Soulja Boy’s Stacks On Deck Money Gang S.O.D.M.G. label and female hip-hop enigma K. Shiday (previously signed to Gucci Mane) just released the new single and video “Wake ‘Em Up”.

Bino will release his debut EP in January 2023 and “Wake ‘Em Up” is the second single on the EP. A powerful song about shifting your mindset, HoodTrophy Bino calls upon his past struggles to help guide him in accomplishing his dreams today.

“You can wake up on different levels,” says Bino about the song and video. “You can become woke about your life – how you want it to be, instead of how it keeps crashing out of control.” The video shows Bino thrashing in bed, having a nightmare. Past excesses torment him, but he finds himself living the life he had always dreamed of – a gorgeous girlfriend (played by K.Shiday), a lit luxury beach house in Marina Del Rey, and close friends celebrating his new house, lifestyle, and accomplishments.

Bino is still striving to reach this dream – he began life in poverty with seven brothers and sisters (thirteen counting step-siblings) where they would sleep in hotels with two beds, a couch, and his mom and step-dad on the floor. “I had nothing growing up,” recalls Bino. “Trauma became an everyday part of my life. My pops is serving a life sentence in San Quentin. My best friend growing up was kidnapped and executed when I was 17.”

K. Shiday lends her voice to the single with sheer magnetism and effortless, charismatic flow. Resonating deeply with the song’s message, the artist confides, “I am rebranding myself. I am independent now and the song and video with Bino appealed to me.” Together, HoodTrophy Bino and K. Shiday create a captivating dynamic, united by the same story of overcoming obstacles through music, determination, and self-expression. The song infuses piano and a music-box back drop to a track with both artists rapping hard to make their fairytale a reality.

San Diego based artist Star2 has just released his new song and video “Up”, featuring a dynamic team of rappers including Mozzy (signed with Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group label), HoodTrophy Bino (signed with Soulja Boy’s Stacks On Deck Money Gang label), and $tupid Young. The upcoming single is a hard-hitting nostalgic ode to Los Angeles which chronicles the unique gang détente and solidarity between sets (bloods and crips) that has existed for several decades.

The single uses reflective lyricism about the past rappers’ experiences absorbed by gang life to contrast the full-circle success found through focus and music. The music video is chalk full of gold bars, excessive bands of cash, designer streetwear, and luxury jewelry as the four rappers celebrate over the flashing lights of their personal police car. Star2 is a driving force behind the abstract flow as he connects each rapper’s story with an ominous, intimidating hook. “Up” represents the struggles that everyone has overcome through sharp sonics and a diverse team of impactful voices.

The song and music video were finished in half a day – Mozzy began a one-year and one-day federal gun charge sentence at Atwater Federal Penitentiary in Merced, California a few days after the shoot. “Free Mozzy!!” Bino, Star2, and $tupid Young shout in unison when asked about the song – supporting their friend and compadre.

Like HoodTrophy Bino, Star2 is a collaborator of Soulja Boy’s. On his latest single “New Me”, Star2 brought together Luh Kel and Soulja Boy for an explosive rap performance. Thai refugee rapper Star2 just unleashed his new single and video for “Go!” featuring HoodTrophy Bino from Soulja Boy’s Stacks on Deck Money Gang (SODMG).

“Are you feelin’ it?” Star2 asks on “Go!”, the first single from his upcoming New Me album. Bringing a flash-fire of summer heat, the song has that West Coast sound and sensibility that combines brash notes, old school hip-hop aggression, trap, and a relentless kick drum that pushes you up from the verses to the chorus. Trap and retro late 90s/early 2000 hip-hop sounds, along with distorted 808s, kicks, claps, trap hats – a hyped up clicking rhythm!
