Post date July 5, 2024

Explosive Los Angeles-based rapper HoodTrophy Bino releases HoodTrophy, the full-length album. From his gritty early mixtapes to collaborating with some of his biggest idols, Bino’s journey from the streets of South Central LA to the bright lights of unfolding success is intensely personal—a life lived on the edge. This is the essence of HoodTrophy Bino, a testament to the enduring spirit of hip hop.

HoodTrophy reflects on his life story while addressing recent incidents of racial profiling against his loved ones and exploring themes that resonate deeply with his fans. Breaking free from the shackles of gang life and poverty, Bino has stayed authentic while blazing a new trail.

Lead single and video, “Storytime” featuring Peso Peso, weaves feverishly fast piano undercurrents with a dark, menacing flow, unraveling a tale of survival while other tracks feature heavyweights Kalan.frfr, Mozzy, Mike Jay, Peso Peso, and Risktaker, in an 11-track project that cements Bino’s place in the hip-hop pantheon.

HoodTrophy comes at the heels of Bino’s documentary Breaking the Generational Curse, which has has already taken home an impressive 11 awards in the film festival circuit so far, and kicks off his tour with Haiti Babii.

Post date June 20, 2024

Los Angeles based artist Darius Martin releases the new single and video for “Fill My Cup”. The single celebrates afrobeats with enticing percussion, euphoric riffs and vivid lyrics that transport you on a romantic sonic fantasy. Martin passionately sings, “Smuggle you ‘cross the country like kilos.” Paired with a vibrant visualizer that captures Darius Martin and a room full of friends letting loose and dancing to “Fill My Cup”, the visuals are equally as celebratory as the track itself. “Fill My Cup” is the song you’ve been waiting for to kickstart your summer with explorative energy and sensual sonics.

On the track Darius adds, “Wizkid, Tems, and Omah Lay are some of my favorite Afrobeat artists right now. This genre is so important, because it’s a part of something much bigger than just music – it’s an entire movement happening right in front of our eyes! I feel that music should represent positivity as much as possible and when I listen to Afr beats that’s what I see portrayed most. “Fill My Cup” isn’t about alcohol or anything that can harm you; it’s about love and filling your cup up with God, knowledge, understanding, peace, love, and everything positive! I wanted to make a feel good song you can spend summer nights driving around to.”

Darius Martin got his start in the American Southwest where he grew up in cities among the likes of El Paso, Texas and Alamogordo, New Mexico. He went on to move to Los Angeles where he got his degree from the acclaimed Los Angeles Film Institute. He has received acclaim from Earmilk, Lyrical Lemonade, Allhiphop, ThisisRNB and more.

(Video) HoodTrophy Bino feat. K Shiday – “Wake Em Up” @binngobino

Post author By OnTheSceneNY
Post date December 9, 2022

Los Angeles based rapper HoodTrophy Bino (“Bino”) signed to Soulja Boy’s Stacks On Deck Money Gang S.O.D.M.G. label and female hip-hop enigma K. Shiday (previously signed to Gucci Mane) just released the new single and video “Wake ‘Em Up”.

Bino will release his debut EP in January 2023 and “Wake ‘Em Up” is the second single on the EP. A powerful song about shifting your mindset, HoodTrophy Bino calls upon his past struggles to help guide him in accomplishing his dreams today.

“You can wake up on different levels,” says Bino about the song and video. “You can become woke about your life – how you want it to be, instead of how it keeps crashing out of control.” The video shows Bino thrashing in bed, having a nightmare. Past excesses torment him, but he finds himself living the life he had always dreamed of – a gorgeous girlfriend (played by K.Shiday), a lit luxury beach house in Marina Del Rey, and close friends celebrating his new house, lifestyle, and accomplishments.

Bino is still striving to reach this dream – he began life in poverty with seven brothers and sisters (thirteen counting step-siblings) where they would sleep in hotels with two beds, a couch, and his mom and step-dad on the floor. “I had nothing growing up,” recalls Bino. “Trauma became an everyday part of my life. My pops is serving a life sentence in San Quentin. My best friend growing up was kidnapped and executed when I was 17.”

K. Shiday lends her voice to the single with sheer magnetism and effortless, charismatic flow. Resonating deeply with the song’s message, the artist confides, “I am rebranding myself. I am independent now and the song and video with Bino appealed to me.” Together, HoodTrophy Bino and K. Shiday create a captivating dynamic, united by the same story of overcoming obstacles through music, determination, and self-expression. The song infuses piano and a music-box back drop to a track with both artists rapping hard to make their fairytale a reality.
