City The Great (Protege to Special Ed) Carries The Culture Forward

Post author By MJ Savino
Post date March 18, 2022

City The Great, acclaimed Hip Hop artist/CEO remembers the first rap he wrote at the age of nine, “F*ck School.” Ever since his pen hit paper he knew there was no other calling for him, and without sounding cliche, the rest is history. As he matured so did his music and drive to master his craft 24/7. City did just that and his catalog grew to consist of a series of mixtapes, albums, and collaborations with legends and pioneers. Once music icon Special Ed caught wind of City’s sound and vibe he immediately signed him as the first artist to his label SEmedia. ” I was taken back, City The Great is refreshing to the ears, his realness is authentic and he strives to keep the culture and elements of Hip Hop alive.” -Special Ed

Not only does he wear the hat of an artist, but as the CEO of Certified Nation Entertainment, he strives to scout and sign like-minded talent who are eager to be part of his mission to bridge the generation gap in Hip Hop. City also linked with Kool Rock Ski of The Fat Boys to orchestrate the Annual Classic Hip Hop and R&B Cookout in NY where the old and new schools unite for good vibes, music, and food. “He has great talent and is making incredible moves in the industry, he keeps me young and motivated, this is just the beginning.” – Kool Rock Ski

Both Special Ed, Kool Rock Ski, and other founding fathers of Hip Hop are impressed with the NY Stapleton’s ability to reach the masses, globally by way of his authentic wordplay and lyricism true to traditional Hip Hop with an edge of new-wave, with respect to the culture and elements. Be sure to connect with City The Great below and grab a copy of his latest projects ‘The Wordsmith’ album and ‘Respectfully Yours’ the mixtape.

(Album) D’Shaun – Sincerely D’Shaun II @RylDShaun

Post author By Welshdagod
Post date February 18, 2022

After holding a listening party last Christmas Eve and now with the new year in full effect, D’Shaun makes his first dent into 2022 with his new album Sincerely D’Shaun, II. This album comes into our rotation as we are still spinning his last two releases The Girl EP II and VirgoSZN EP with DeShaunJay back in 2021. This album is the second release in the Sincerely D’Shaun series as it’s predecessor was dropped back in March of 2017. Although, this release is a bit different from previous releases, feeling as if the RYLTY leader was in a different creative zone during the recording process. D’Shaun says “I wanted to give a multicultural feel to the sound of the album, there are beats that are inspired by each coast, and I try to take you to each side of rap”. Keep that in mind as you spin this album because that is exactly what you get from Sincerely D’Shaun, II. The album is backed by a great beat selection that holds true to D’Shauns statement, as the artist enlists 6 different producers to help put their creative effort into the project. Those producers include EATVICTOR, MosDefMaro, Benji, TG aka Tommy Gold, ChillOutB and Trevv!. The San Antonio rep gives plenty of credit to Detroit’s Trevv saying “We definitely wanted to push the boundary, and it all was different because Trevv took most of the work into his own hands, executive producing the tape. Producing tracks #6 & #10-15 so that gave us a whole different perspective and sonic journey to embark on”. It’s hard to dissect an album when you hear no flaws because you have nothing but good things to say. D’Shaun has become very comfortable driving in his very own lane, but that doesn’t stop him from leveling up with anything he decides to release to his fans. “I know myself well, but I’m still trying to push the boundary” and man does he do exactly that with Sincerely D’Shaun, II which you can stream below via Spotify.

(Album) Casket D. – “HEALER” @CASKET_MGB

Post author By Welshdagod
Post date September 20, 2021

For his 3rd solo studio effort Casket D gifts us with “HEALER”. A poignant concept album filled with honesty, inspiration and tutelage. Casket delivers his expertise of life over soulful instrumentals flooded with heavy drums. The production flows beautifully throughout. The features are precise. His lyrics are sharp and crisp, confidence apparent, deliberately vulnerable yet wise beyond years and determined. At just under an hour (54 minutes) of listening time “HEALER” makes a strong case for not only the best to come from Casket D thus far, but arguably the absolute best in Hip-Hop this year.
