Nearly five years after his fatal armed robbery in June 2018, XXXTENTACION’s murder trial is finally scheduled to begin this week.
The jury selection is still going on, but the trial will begin at some point this week, according to NBC6. Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Devonshay Williams, and Trayvon Newsome, three of the four accused co-defendants, will face trial.
The fourth, Robert Allen, admitted admission to charges of second-degree murder in August 2022 and is anticipated to testify against his comrades in order to receive a lesser sentence.
The three accused individuals might get a life sentence if found guilty. Authorities think Boatwright was the perpetrator of the armed robbery outside of Riva Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida, on June 18, 2018, when XXXTENTACION was shot and killed. In a Louis Vuitton bag that X had just withdrawn, they made off with $50,000.
Following their arrest, the four co-defendants were charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery with a handgun.
In the Broward County murder trial, potential witnesses who might be summoned to the witness stand include Drake, 6ix9ine, Joe Budden, Quavo, and more.
During his quick ascent to prominence, X got into a lot of fights, and his brief altercation with Drake sparked rumors that the OVO hitmaker was somehow connected to his demise.
Despite the fact that there has never been any proof tying Drake to the crime, one of the defendants’ attorneys has listed the Toronto native along with a number of other prominent Hip Hop personalities as prospective witnesses in the case, according to the Miami Herald.
In the beginning of 2017, XXXTENTACION attacked Drake, saying he had stolen his “Look At Me!” flow for the hit song “KMT” from More Life. At the time, X posted on Instagram, “If anyone tries to kill me, it was @champagnepapi,” before subsequently changing it.
