Post date February 25, 2023

DMV-based rapper/producer Santa Sallet presents the self-directed music video for “Just Another Tuesday”, produced by Nemizzo, longtime collaborator and co-founder of Mugisha Sallet Productions (MSP). Sallet recently released visuals for “Championship Ring” (watch on Youtube) and “Chinese Funk” (watch on Youtube) in preparation for the release of Plutography, Sallet’s forthcoming album which blends salsa beats, southern trap, and eastern jazz with classic and conventional rap samples, reflecting Sallet’s international upbringing across South Africa, Dominica and the US. Sallet is planning a series of full-length releases, among them C.R.E.A.M. which recounts his journey from broke to financially free, and Women and R.A.P. which describe his pursuit of success in relationships and the music industry respectively. Santa says “Just Another Tuesday” is about “a white car. I’ll never forget, I was driving home from work one day when Nemizzo called me to play me some beats. We freestyling through back-to-back beats when he played this beat called ‘$crapes’. I start freestyling and something ‘bout how I’m driving and how ‘I whip that white (white, white, white, white)’. I was vibing with it so hard that as soon as I got home, I put pen to paper before my genius could escape me. It was Just Another Tuesday for MSP.” “Just Another Tuesday” is out now on MSP Records.

Ty Thom Shows Listeners an Evolved Version of Himself on New Album LUCID @TYTHOMDAGAWD

Post author By Welshdagod
Post date October 16, 2020

DMV rap artist Ty Thom proves he is a force to be reckoned with on his latest project, Lucid. With a nuanced sound and melodies that flow between genre lines, Ty Thom presents a shift in his artistry with the full album LUCID, released through heavy hitting GODVZN Label. Through LUCID, Ty Thom crafts his own narrative, and reminds his audience to do the same.

LUCID represents a rollercoaster in Ty Thom’s life, where he felt stagnant, and he remedied that feeling by changing his thought process and his approach as an artist. This shift is evident when listening to LUCID, and the growth of Ty Thom presents his audience with a reintroduction to his signature sound. The melodic raps of LUCID show Ty Thom’s ever-shifting approach to his artistry, and remind his listeners and the industry not to take their ears off of him.

Ty Thom calls on his GODVZN label mates for the title track “Lucid” ft MoeSOS DC and “Kaepernick Jersey” ft Kev and Dre Wave$. These songs not only showcase Ty Thom’s ability to move fluidly through cadences, but the difference in sound on GODVZN as a label, and their aptitude for finding each other’s rhythm.

Ty reminds his audience “sometimes people think they have no control over outcomes. I made LUCID to prove to everyone and myself that nothing is too far out of reach. We all have the ability to obtain any treasure we see in front of us.” Themes of maneuvering periods on madness and chaos, controlling one’s fate to the best of their ability, and controlling one’s own narrative are woven throughout LUCID. As the album progresses, we are introduced to Ty Thom’s distinguished style of rapping, blended with features that showcase his ability to harmoniously bounce off the energy of his fellow artists.
LUCID presents a reintroduction to Ty Thom, and listeners new and veteran alike are sure to be entranced.

Y’man Dog ‘Dog Eat Dog’ Album

Post author By MJ Savino
Post date March 28, 2020

Y’man Dog, DMV’s seasoned and celebrated artist releases a new album titled ‘Dogma (Dog Eat Dog)’. The solo 15-track project is said to be his top release to date.

Y’man Dog shows off his skill set as an emcee and eclecticism as an artist throughout the album’s entirety, which is brimming with street records, anthems, and even something for the ladies.

The Oxon Hill, Maryland based native engages listeners through impeccable wordplay and aggressive yet truth-based lyricism detailing his life and what’s made him and continues to empower his shine. Y’man Dog pays homage to his hood, depicts personal dog eat dog world survival tactics, and embodies the impact of mental and physical warfare.

The “Gangsta Humanitarian” also switches up the tempo, anthem style, with a focus on his grind, ability to keep his eyes on the prize, and the brush of wildfires when he shuts the scene down! If that’s not enough, Y’man Dog reveals a vulnerable side and shares about his lustful desires and yearning to please the right woman.

Overall, Y’man Dog delivers a diverse selection of records that emulate his growth as both a man and an artist. The production which includes distinct piano keys, hard beats, soulful tones, and a perfect arrangement of classic and modern cadences heightens his lyrical deliverance and raw emotion. One thing is evident, after listening to ‘Dogma’ it’s almost impossible to shake the name “Gangsta Humanitarian.”
