According to the Eastern District of Michigan Attorney’s Office, Flint rapper Cliff Mac has been charged for allegedly hiring a hitman to kill a lady.
The 31-year-old (actual name Clifton E. Terry III) was officially accused on Wednesday (August 24) with conspiring to conduct murder-for-hire that results in personal harm, murder-for-hire that results in personal injury, and using a handgun during and in connection with a violent crime.
The indictment claims that Mac arranged for Andre D. Sims, 25, to receive $10,000 in cash in exchange for killing a lady in Sterling Heights. Sims reportedly left Grand Rapids on November 27, 2020 for Flint, where he obtained a car. On November 28, 2020 in the morning, Sims allegedly drove to the victim’s home and parked across the street.
Sims allegedly fired seven to eight rounds at the victim after leaving the house hours later; despite being hit many times, the victim managed to survive and continue driving. Cliff Mac allegedly picked up Sims after he abandoned his car at a neighboring apartment building and offered to pay him $2,500 for the botched murder attempt.
The victim’s home security camera captured the shooting, with her mother looking on and yelling as it happened. The video was provided by WDIV Local 4 (see it above), and text conversations between Sims and Mac, along with the locations of their cellphones, lay out the prosecution’s case.
For the charges of murder-for-hire, Cliff Mac may receive up to $250,000 in fines and 20 years in jail. For assisting in the use of a firearm during a violent crime, he additionally risks a required minimum of 10 years in jail, a maximum of life in prison, and a fine of up to $250,000.
On March 16, 2022, Sims was already charged for his involvement in the murder-for-hire scheme.
For his suspected involvement in the murder of Devaroe Davis on August 17, 2021, Mac was also charged in a separate case with first-degree murder.
Regarding Sims, he was recently given a life sentence after being found guilty of murder in the shooting death of a 65-year-old lady.
