According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Young Thug has been sued for $150,000 about a concert that was scheduled to take place in Atlanta this summer.
The rapper, actual name Jeffery Williams, reportedly committed to take the stage at State Farm Arena on June 18 for a “Young Thug and Friends” concert, but was unable to do so because of his incarceration.
The concert was planned in January, and Thug was scheduled to get $300,000 for a 45-minute set, of which half had already been paid in advance and the other half would be paid after the event, according to court filings.
A-1 Concert Entertainment, the concert producer, has said that they haven’t gotten the $150,000 advance returned. A refund will be given, according to a YSL Touring spokesman.
“Due to his arrest and the nature of the felony criminal charges against Williams, it was immediately apparent in May 2022 that he would not be able to perform as required in the agreement,” the filing said. “To date, A-1 Concert has not received any reimbursement of the $150,000 owed to it.”
As part of a 56-count racketeering indictment charging YSL of being a “criminal street gang,” Young Thug was detained in May along with 27 other people. He is accused of participating in illegal street gang activities on one count and conspiring to break the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act on another.
Three months later, as part of a second indictment in the YSL RICO case, Thug was struck with a flurry of additional accusations, including a new gang charge, new drug charges, and possession of a pistol while committing a felony.
These most recent accusations are related to narcotics and firearms recovered by law enforcement inside the Punk rapper’s Atlanta home following his arrest in May. Young Thug and Gunna have both been denied release twice, and it’s probable that they’ll both be in jail until his trial in January 2023.
