After being freed from prison, Pretty Ricky’s Baby Blue declared that he would now adopt a new identity and publish a book.
After pleading guilty to one count of conspiring to commit wire fraud, Baby Blue was first given a sentence of 20 months in jail in February of last year. In October 2020, he was charged with using false loan applications to get money from the U.S. Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) via the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act intended for small enterprises.
Baby Blue said goodbye to his fans and family during a celebration at Prime 112 in Miami after receiving more than $24 million as a consequence of the swindle. The First Step Act, which was sponsored by then-President Donald Trump in 2018, appears to have led to Blue’s early release from Orlando’s Coleman Prison, as he revealed to The Shade Room one year later. Inmates who qualify may “participate in recidivism reduction programs and earn credits toward early release” under the legislation.
Blue claimed in a statement to TSR that the experience has transformed him and that he is a changed man as he was spotted reunited with Spectacular and Pleasure P outside the prison.
“I met a lot of REAL n-ggas in the feds,” he said. “A lot of good street n-ggas doing time in this fucked up system just for hustling and getting money to support they families. Anybody out there that got a loved one behind them walls, make sure y’all show love. Y’all all they got and that commissary expensive than a bitch!”
He continued, “I appreciate all the love and support from my family, friends and fans! New album dropping soon! Wrote a book too! Might call that bitch ‘How To Hustle’ or ‘Blue Magic.’ Officially changing my name to BIGG MONEY BLUE! Shoutout to my n-ggas at Coleman Prison! I’m bout to get back to the MONEY! LET’S GO!”
While this is yet to be determined, Baby Blue told Hollywood Unlocked in 2021 that he intended to get shredded while inside in an effort to make the most of his prison sentence.
“I ain’t tripping,” he said at the time. “When I get out, Ima be ripped up like Gucci Mane! And I’ma be one of the hottest rappers in the world! My new single, ‘Up Again’ drop Friday! I’m talking bout them fuck n-ggas who TRIED to rob me but ain’t get SHIT!” Thankful to be Alive! All glory to God! Love my fans, family and friends for sticking with a n-gga through everything!
He concluded, “All them prayers definitely saved my life! Only thing ima really miss is time away from my kids. I just had a baby boy this year and Ima miss his little giggles for sure!”
